National Student Money Week (NSMW), an annual awareness campaign organised by NASMA, is returning in February 2023.

The campaign will focus on helping students cope with the cost of living crisis by giving them the best tools, tips and tricks to help with ‘Navigating the Numbers.’

Navigating the numbers

With the rising cost of living and limited support, it’s no surprise students feel like it’s impossible to keep track of their finances.

That’s why this NSMW, we’re allowing students to hit pause with our new ‘Spending Snapshot’ tool.

The campaign encourages all students to create a snapshot of their financial life, providing a big-picture view of their current spending that can be used as a solid foundation for a better financial future.

How is Blackbullion supporting partners during National Student Money Week 2023?

As in previous years, partner universities will benefit from Blackbullion’s ready-made campaign resources. That means our partners can ensure their students can access the best information to tackle the cost of living crisis.

In time for NSMW, we are launching a new ‘Spending snapshot’ tool to help students navigate the numbers by starting with a solid foundation – a budget.

We know budgeting isn’t always fun, but our spending snapshot tool will give students a real insight into their financial lives, giving them more ownership and freedom over their finances. Students will also be able to see where they place on a spectrum of student spenders up and down the country.

All students who submit their budget using the ‘Spending Snapshot’ tool during NSMW will enter a prize draw to get 1 month’s rent paid!

We’ve designed the competition to make it easy for you to embed financial wellbeing at the heart of your NSMW activities while allowing space for your teams to run additional activities during the week.

When is it?

National Student Money Week 2023 runs from 27th February to 3rd March 2023, and we’ll be posting tips and tricks all week on how best to navigate the numbers during the cost of living crisis.

But we know that the core week doesn’t always work for everyone, so we’re adding another week for our competition to give you more flexibility to run activities when it works for you and your team.

Students who want to participate in the spending snapshot competition must submit their budget using our online tool from 27th February to 10th March 2023 to be entered into the prize draw.

How does the ‘Spending snapshot’ competition benefit students?

It’s needed during the cost of living crisis

For some, financial education alone will not be enough to mitigate the challenges posed by the current economic climate. We hope that students that use our ‘spending snapshot’ tool will gain a better understanding of their financial situation and also feel like they can reach out for help if needed.

Practical prizes!

We want to provide students with prizes that ease the cost of living pressures. Here’s what’s to play for this year:

  • 3 x 1 month’s rent (T&Cs apply)
  • 1 x £50 OneForAll voucher per partner
