Money and mental health: student financial understanding and wellbeing

What’s inside?

To better understand the financial concerns of students, as well as their overall financial understanding, Blackbullion partnered with Sheffield Hallam University to produce this study: Money and Mental Health – Student Financial Understanding and Wellbeing.

1,196 students on the Sheffield Hallam University campus took part in the study, which was distributed by the university’s Student Services Department. The study sought to examine students’ understanding of key financial topics (taxes, credit cards, interest rates, etc.), the impact financial pressure has on mental wellbeing, and the specific financial worries of students. Download the report to discover the findings.

What is covered?

The report includes findings on:

  • Student understanding of key financial topics, such as debt, saving and taxation
  • The relationship between financial capability and student mental wellbeing
  • The financial worries that most concern students
