Education is essential for personal and professional development, particularly in our ever-evolving world. That’s always been our belief at Blackbullion. And it should be affordable and accessible to everyone.
We know all too well the critical role financial support plays in enabling students to conquer their academic dreams. That’s why we established Blackbullion Scholarships – an initiative designed to empower students, promote social mobility, and build a brighter future for all!
At Blackbullion, we are acutely aware of the severe financial challenges students face, especially those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. With a 142% increase in dropout rates due to financial distress, urgent action is needed. That’s why we built the UK’s largest hub of scholarships, grants, and funding on the Blackbullion platform and are partnering with forward-thinking businesses and organisations to add more life-changing opportunities for students.
What are Blackbullion scholarships?
Blackbullion Scholarships are financial awards provided to students to help cover the costs of their education. These scholarships aim to reduce the financial barriers that many students face, so they can focus on their studies and achieve their full potential.
In just 12 months, we have added more than £1 million of new scholarships to the Funding Hub on our platform. There – on the UK’s largest hub of support funds, scholarships and grants for students – it couldn’t be easier for the 275,000+ students within our community to find and apply for those they are eligible for.
The scholarships are offered by our partners including Nationwide Building Society, Amazon, STACK Infrastructure and Wise, along with other market-leading organisations, ensuring a broad reach and significant impact across industries.
Many of the scholarships also come with employment opportunities for the student. Providing a step into a successful career and empowering our partners to recruit a dynamic and diverse pool of future talent for their business.
Investing in people, whether monetarily or with time, always goes a long way… they have created this chain of goodness, then that allows someone like me to go and create goodness for someone else.
Why are we doing what we’re doing?
1. Putting more money in students’ pockets
Our research found that students are short £621 a month on what they need to feel confident they can complete their degree. Putting more money in students’ pockets is essential and critically urgent. This is where scholarships can help. £621 is only the average – students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds are disproportionately impacted by financial challenges.
2. Promoting social mobility
Our scholarships are designed to support students from diverse backgrounds, particularly those who may not have the financial means to access higher education. These opportunities help level the playing field and promote social mobility, giving all students a fair chance at success, regardless of their economic circumstances or background.
3. Bridging the skills gap
The modern workforce is rapidly evolving, with a growing demand for skills in areas such as AI, data science, and other tech-related fields. Our scholarships specifically target these high-demand areas, helping to bridge the skills gap and prepare students for the jobs of the future. Investing in education is also an investment in the future workforce, ensuring that businesses can recruit talented and skilled professionals.
4. Boosting economic impact
Education has a profound impact on the economy. Studies show that for every £1 spent on scholarships, the UK economy receives a £4.50 boost. This substantial return on investment highlights the importance of supporting students through their educational journeys. By helping students succeed, we are contributing to the overall economic growth and development of the UK.
5. Creating a more inclusive society
Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do. Our scholarship programmes aim to support underrepresented groups, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to excel. By fostering a more inclusive educational environment, we are helping to create a society that values and benefits from diverse perspectives and experiences.
6. Encouraging lifelong learning
Education doesn’t stop at graduation. We believe in the power of lifelong learning and are committed to supporting students throughout their educational journeys and beyond. Our scholarships not only provide immediate financial support, but also encourage a culture of continuous learning and personal growth.
Receiving the Accu Scholarship was a significant milestone in my academic journey. Not only did it help me financially, but it also boosted my confidence and opened doors to incredible opportunities.
As a scholarship recipient myself, I completely understand the transformative power of being able to attend university. It’s because of this experience that I was honoured to accept the role of leading Blackbullion’s scholarships division. Now, our sole mission is to make scholarships the de facto solution for businesses, as they look to create diverse talent pools and have a genuine social impact on the UK.
