Blackbullion has joined forces with Young Enterprise, in an initiative supported by the Bank of England, to help young people starting university this September prepare for the financial reality of university life.
Over 500,000 graduates are expected to start university next month, and with Covid-19 compounding anxiety, organisations including Young Enterprise and the Bank of England are looking to provide additional support.
“The Bank of England is a strong advocate of efforts to improve financial literacy among young people, including through our own resources for primary and secondary schools. We are delighted to support Blackbullion and Young Enterprise in their work to give young people transitioning to university the skills they need to manage money effectively. This will hopefully set them up for a successful financial future. ” – says Joanna Place, Deputy Governor, Chief Operating Officer at the Bank of England.
Young Enterprise will be launching a “Life after A-Level Results Day Hub” with free resources, virtual events and tools discovery. Blackbullion will be officially supporting the initiative by providing a free learning bundle – part of the popular Money Ready for Uni package to communicate crucial financial information in a clear and cohesive way to support all students.
This will support young people to get started with their first university budget, understand student loans, get insights into the real costs of university life, making sense of the new clearing process and understanding how individuals’ changed circumstances may impact student finance.
“We are excited to be working with Blackbullion to support students. The provision of interactive online information is key in the current environment and they are well known for providing an engaging learning experience that helps young people tackle financial challenges before, during and after university.” – says Russell Winnard, Director of Programmes and Services Young Enterprise & Young Money
Vivi Friedgut, will be a guest speaker at two Young Enterprise virtual events, on the 14th and 21st August, to talk about student finance and answer any questions when it comes to money. Find out more about registering for the upcoming event here.
All prospective students, as well as their parents and guardians, can access the free online learning, funding hub and the student money guide via moneyreadyforuni.com.
