Birmingham City University (BCU) has become the first higher education institution in Birmingham to partner with Blackbullion, the financial education innovator.

BCU’s 24,000 students will shortly have access to Blackbullion’s learning platform as will prospective students. The aim of the partnership is to ultimately help students gain the money skills they need to raise their financial confidence and knowledge, in turn enabling them to better understand and manage their day-to-day financial situation throughout their studies and beyond graduation.

On confirming a partnership with Blackbullion, Kate Waugh, Deputy Director of Student Affairs stated:

“We know that difficulties with money can have a significant impact on a student wellbeing, progress, and attainment at university. We believe that our partnership with Blackbullion will give our students the confidence to manage their money successfully whilst at university and after graduation, and enable them to enjoy their time studying with us.”

Continuing their long-held tradition of ensuring a great educational experience for all students, BCU aims to deploy the Blackbullion service to have a positive impact on the financial resilience, mental health and overall wellbeing of students.

“We are so happy to welcome Birmingham City University’ students into our growing community” says Vivi Friedgut, CEO of Blackbullion “we believe that student success rests on three key elements; mental health, physical health and financial health and we are proud to be the financial education supplier of choice for so many universities across the UK.
